2. Adding Content Links
Once the external tool setup process is complete, you need to make select content visible to
students. In Moodle, you make content visible by adding an activity link.
- Navigate to your course.
- Turn editing on and Select Add an activity or resource.
- Select External tool from the main menu.
- Add activity name and launch URL. Ensure Preconfigured Tool field is set to Automatic, based on Tool URL.
- Select Save and return to course.
3. Initialize the Course
You must initialize your course so that students can access APA PsycLearn content you added.
This one-time-only step is required. To initialize your course, select any link that you've added.
- Enter your course start date (as mm/dd/yyyy). The date you provide will determine when
students can begin accessing PsycLearn content. (If students are using access codes, this
date will also be used to determine their free trial period.) - Select Submit to initialize your course.
4. Using Moodle-Specific Features
Moodle has features like evaluation, analytics, and adaptive release that may be available to you, but because it is so customizable to each institution, please talk to your Moodle admins to see what's available on your campus.
5. Copying Your Moodle Course
If you've used APA PsycLearn in previous courses, you may be able to copy your course, modules, and assignments. After you copy your course, we recommend double-checking
- Assignment link settings (to make sure they're still opening in a new tab) and
- Assignment due dates.
If you don't see the options shown in these instructions, you may want to check with your LMS admin to confirm that copying course content is available in your instance of Moodle.
If you'd like to review additional content and add new links, please refer to the spreadsheet provided by your onboarding specialist. Please note launch URLs are not clickable until they have been added to your course.
To copy your course
- Navigate to the new course to which you'd like to import content. Select the gear icon in the top
right corner and select Import.
- Use the radio button to select the course you want to copy. (You may need to search for
the course) Then select Continue
- All options are selected by default - You can retain these selections and select Jump to the final step to complete the import or progress through the steps to select specific content to import.
